Bolu Göynük Thermal Power Plant (270 MW)

The Bolu Göynük Thermal Power Plant, which was commissioned by the private sector in 2015 and is one of the first power plants in Turkey to generate electricity using domestic coal, is very important in terms of reducing foreign dependency in energy by bringing domestic resources into the economy. With the Turkish Coal Enterprises Institution opening lignite coal fields to the private sector, it is the first royalty-based investment in Turkey. The plant has 2 SES-Tlmace boilers, 2 MTD-50 CRA Skoda steam turbines, 2 SG100A-2P Siemens generators and 2 SPIG cooling systems.

The power plant, which has an installed capacity of 270 MW, is also the first power plant in Turkey with fluidized bed boiler technology together with a wet flue gas treatment system. Thanks to this technology, an air cushion is created with the air supplied from under the combustion chamber, and the combustion process is carried out with solid fuel consisting of coal and limestone on this cushion. With this process, the coal stays in the combustion chamber for a longer time, ensuring that the combustion reaction takes place at a lower temperature. This situation minimizes the amount of NOx, which is harmful to the environment.

The power plant, which has met all legal requirements within the scope of the Environmental Legislation since 2015 with its combustion and treatment technologies; It also has an Environmental Permit and License Document on "Air Emission, Wastewater Discharge and Regular Storage".

In September 2020, the plant was entitled to receive the TSE COVID-19 Safe Production Certificate and at the beginning of 2021, the "Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate" within the scope of the "Zero Waste" project implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
